The twenty-first

Friends,
This post is dedicated to our fellow pug friend, Brando. He was recently rescued and tested positive to heartworm and a few other bugs nopuggy deserve to have.
Today, just like the twenty-first of every month I demand - yes, I bark and scratch the bathroom cabinet where medicines are stored - my heartworm preventative chew. Sometimes I start asking a few days in advance and that's o.k. because even if my mother forgets, I never do.
The bottom line is that in this twenty-first century, being that information is available for everyone, lack of knowledge shouldn't be the excuse for us pets to suffer. Owning a pet is not only a blessing but a responsibility!

My sister, my double and me.

Hello all,
It seems like ever since I started being in most of my sister's wardrobe our grandmother has started showing serious signs of aging.
Friends, look at both pictures closely. Where am I?
Well, grandma asked how my sister was able to ride the bike with me on top of her.
By the way, it is time to name my sister again. She's been "baby sister" for way too long. She is not a baby; she is a full grown bossy toddler. I called her "Alpha" for a while, but I don't find it appropriate anymore because who, being as bossy and dominant as she is, needs such a strong reassurance? Right?
It is time to brainstorm - suggestions are welcome.

Potbelly

Friends,
Hello. After weeks of waiting, I heard the most treasured words besides food, carrots and treats (although I know those words in Spanish, not in English): "lets take Coco for a walk".
And we walked all the way to the edge  of pavement and back, because it started to rain. Of all excuses, this is the lamest one - in my opinion.
And then, I had to hear my own father say that I look like a potbelly pig. What can I say back, if he is handsome and fit and is often confused as being his older daughter's brother?
"and you look like... Like... To be twenty five years younger!". Not offensive enough, nope.

My future stomachache

My father has been buying different types of mango and avocado trees in the past few months. They are all very small.
He still hasn't figured out where they will be planted, but it doesn't matter because, again, they are very small.
The other night, my mother woke up at 3 AM worried about how I will get too sick from eating all those mangoes and avocados that will fall from the trees -Someday.
And now she doesn't want the trees anymore.

The Monster

That would be me - according to my mother. She was forced to put the little piece of toast in a bucket on top of the television yet I wouldn't leave it alone. At least she could give me some credit for teaching my sister her first sentences:
"Toto, what are you doing?"
"Toto, échate pa'llá" (Coco, move over there).
And in both languages, nevertheless.

Food is food

It doesn't matter if it is real or faked! Or if your way-too-little-to-cook sister has little animals on a dish... And she calls that "pizza".
I need to get my paws into blogging more. I have had quite a few adventures that need to be shared.

On my way to buy a calendar...

For my mother! She said Tuni's tribute day was on Tuesday, so I posted on Tuesday of last week. The cell phone's alarm went off today showing "Tuni Tribute Tuesday" and mom said how silly she was to program it on the wrong date. Duh, it was supposed to be today!
Anyway, before you guys run away screaming, my sister is probably pretending to use a lipstick in this picture; not smoking! I don't think she's ever seen anyone smoking so she isn't even pretending to do so. Something about sneeze attacks and mother being allergic to fragrances, fumes, odors, dust and the like. Except pug fur - or pug produced fumes. That's O.K.

Don't play with fire

Friends,
Today, unlike yesterday, is not as hot as hell outside. My wish to go out and have fun finally became a reality as we packed our backpack and headed to our local farmers market.
Mom met a bunch of friendly strangers that approached us to pet me, purchased a few homemade items and walked my sister and I to sniff and explore around.
When we stopped to rest for a little, my sister got a few items out to "play kitchen". You guys know how that game usually ends, right? (hint: feeding the pug).
Well, not this time. She was playing with dark chocolate sorbet, which I, of course, didn't have. And a new pug idiom was created today:
"DON'T PLAY WITH CHOCOLATE"

Too hot to have fun

Friends,
It's been weeks since the last time I went out of the house, and I am sure it was to go to the vet. I pant just with the idea of going out! I am so bored!
To make things worst, it was extremely hot on my sister's birthday. I couldn't spend the day with my family but the pictures they took say it all. She missed me dearly.

Tuni Tuesday Tribute

Our friend Winston suggested that we write a post today with a picture of us lying in our bed as a tribute to sweet Tuni. We really miss her and her weekly Tuni Tuesdays.
My bed for nighttime sleep is a big pillow right next to the family bed although I really sleep more hours at daytime. I nap most days on top of my dad's clothes that he casually leaves laying around. He likes to have the house clean and neat all the time, except for the clothes he wore the day before; which proves that he really loves me. My second favorite for naps is to use his flip flops as a pillow. Those are really comfy!
