Hello friends,
Mom is about to have a nervous breakdown. She blames stress at work, lack of sleep and all the other normal responsibilities an almost 40-year old adult should know how to handle but she doesn't. But THAT is not the real problem.
The problem is that she finds me cuddly. She loooves to hug me, kiss me and pet me - and I used to let her do it. She swears it makes her stress go away.
Now, I've never been the type of guy that snuggles or kisses or sits on a lap. I like to be on my own; I like to focus on my upmost goal - food. With the addition of my little sister to the family, I've become interested in sports as well - stretching, jumping, hunting... and I aim to perfection.
Obviously, that leaves NO room for additional activities, like hugging, kissing or cuddling. Whenever mom calls me, I do not come. If she hugs me, I step back. A kiss? Maybe. Two kisses? Too much. I need all 4 senses focused on my goal.
Any advice on how to deal with an aging, overwhelmed, overbearing mother?
Thank you very much.

Oh Coco, I don't have any good advice - my mom tries to do the same to me!! Is there any way you can deflect her to the baby? I always try to get my mom to pay attention to Chewy instead.
Good luck!

I don't mind all of that stuff, but it has to be on my terms and when no food is in the vicinity. I think Clover had a good idea and see if your mom can relax with your sister.
Love,
Payton
I'm a lot like Payton, it has to be on my terms. Mom has even resorted to the old "peanut butter on the finger" trick in times of desperation to get me to let her kiss on me. What can I say? I am a food whore so it works.
Hi Coco
I am the same way. Everything has to be when I am in the mood.
I am not so kissy and really only do things if food is involved.
Except sleep- I do like snuggling.

Dear dear Coco, Learn to live with it! You pugs are the softest, cuddliest, loving furbabies ever! My old gal Fuji is so like you, a little lovin is enough, but Gidget and Onyx would be let you love on them all day! My other dogs too! Help your Mom out! It's the holidays after all!
We're sorry but we don't have any advice. Our mom does the same thing - and Daisy especially isn't crazy about the kissing but Mom just keeps doing it! She says she'll get used to it.
Those humans love the love. We guess it's okay as long as we get treats.
Pug love from,
Pearl & Daisy
