Mom waited for dad to leave to work to put a bow on my head. Mom carried me to the bed, on top of the orange comforter for "contrast".
"I don't want a bow on my head", I said. "I am not a girl".
"And I don't want to sit still either. What a silly picture".
"Let me walk towards the night stand, there's always something to eat there".
"You don't want a picture against the white sheets? Mom, take the bow off please. And no more pictures."
"Oh, I am sorry. I didn't remember that today is your birthday. Thirtyfive sounds like a lot of years, mom. Is it a joke, or do you really think that I am YOUR present?".
